Tiger 1, 2 and 3

What to do on a gorgeous day after not leaving my desk for three straight weeks? Well – you could do an 8 mile, 3 hours, 2700′ elevation gain hike… just to ensure you won’t be able to move for a few days.

Finally did Tiger 1, 2 and 3, something I’ve been meaning to do for ages. Went up the back side to Tiger 1, ignored the DNR warning of “extreme hazard” (which turned out to be a huge swatch of downed trees… must have been a huge wind storm), over to Tiger 2 on the forest road up there, and on to Tiger 3. Saw one person until Tiger 3… then the crowds set in (saw 20 or so people in the middle of a weekday – no-one out here works).

If you’ve never been to Tiger before and are thinking of doing this hike, do yourself a favor and get a map first. The place is a maze of trails, some running for 16 miles. I’ve gotten lost a few times out there and I go all the time.
