Mt. Monadnock

Matt, Kat, Michelle and I went up Mt. Monadnock yesterday. Located just outside Jaffrey, NH it’s a little over a 1.5 hour drive from Boston. Matt and I have done this hike countless times – even at night in the middle of the winter with crampons to get up the ice flows. I actually hadn’t done it during the day in a long, long time.

The trail is appalling, it’s just a series of boulders that you have to pick each step through, and it’s really steep in most sections… more of a scramble than a hike. The crowds were beyond appalling, I’ve never seen so many people on a trail. The parking lot literally looked like a mall parking lot.

It was really pretty though. Peak foliage from a mountain in perfect 60 degree weather can’t be beat.
