Ah, the web…

After learning that my friend Chris died over IM I realized that the internet had actually fundamentally changed major things in my life.

Well, this morning, Kat IM’s me:

Katja: excellent news about your mom
me: didn’t get
Katja: oh, Matt twitted or something. He’s at MGH with Carolyn. They have a kidney for her
i saw it on his Facebook thing like 10 minutes ago
me: huh – pretty strange to find out about that this way

So – my Mom is having a kidney transplant. I hope everything goes well. She’s been spending 6 hours every day on a dialysis machine so this is great news for her.

Good luck!

good luck to your mom!
as far as finding shit out on facebook, it seems that that’s the only way to find out people are pregnant anymore. i guess it’s easier than dialing 7 digits now. so draining talking to people. :)

To be fair, I was waiting to send out an email (yes, that’s how you would have found out) until she was considered a match. Would have been a couple hours later. Twitter was the bleeding edge. :)
